There are lots of name changes and firms moving to LLP status. If you need to change your firm’s name as presented by Probate Plus it’s quick and easy -
Look through the Probate Plus address book (see menu :: View..Address Book) for your firms name, it should be highlighted in yellow. You can double click this entry and change the details.
An alternative method is to create a new address book entry for the new firm name then on the “Options” page for the addressee, tick the “use current address book entry as ‘our firm’?” checkbox.

Yes, Probate Plus is able to operate under a terminal server environment. In fact, many firms are moving to this way of working to centralise the user’s PC desktops and provide applications to users regardless of the user location (eg when teleworking).
In order for Probate Plus to work correctly, the full Advantage Database Server (ADS) licence is needed and of a size that matches the maximum concurrent Probate Plus user count.
More information on the high-performance ADS in the following link : http://www.sybase.co.uk/products/databasemanagement/advantagedatabaseserver
The ADS is available to purchase direct from Law Systems Limited or through a number of software retailers. Contact sales@LawSystems.co.uk for more details.

A quick tech tip from the support desk today. When setting up an addressee record, there are two fields : Nickname and Real Name. The “real name” field can hold many more characters than the “nickname” field and will override the contents of the “nickname”.
The idea is that the nickname can be used to differentiate between multiple addressees that might have the same “real name” but different addresses. Think of the “real name “ as the “write to” name.
Eg. here we have two entries for RNIB, using nickname to differentiate.
Nickname : RNIB (HQ)
Real name : Royal National Institute for Blind
Address : 14 Some Street, AnyTown, PP23 A23
Nickname : RNIB (Accounts)
Real name : Royal National Institute for Blind
Address : 32 Bridge Street, AnotherTown, AB12 3AA

If you’re using Probate Plus v4 under Windows 7 and the dollar ($) sign is displayed as your currency even though the UK pound (£) is selected in regional settings, there’s an easy workaround :
You (or your IT department) will need to check the locale setting for the PC in question. The “Locale” needs to be set to “809” in “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International”
- Use “regedit” to check / or amend the current setting.
- Log off then log back on for the changes to be applied.
